Frida Kahlo Her Photos

Casa da America Latina brings to Lisboa a selection of 257 of the 6,500 photographs that make up the collection of the Casa Azul / Frida Kahlo Museum, for an exhibition entitled "Frida Kahlo - Her Photos", the first international
exhibit of the show.
"Frida Kahlo - Her Photos" displays a significant collection of photographs that served as a record, working tool and form of exorcising the loneliness of the Mexican painter. Curated by Pablo Or tiz Monasterio, renowned
photographer and historian of Mexican photography, the exhibit portrays the importance of this art medium in the painter's life.

The exhibition is divided into six sections:
The Parents: William and Matilda, The Blue House, The Damaged Body, The Loves of Frida, The photography and The Political Struggle. The value of these images as historical evidence is undeniable, but so is the presence of images by other renowned photographers who photographed her and can also be found in this exhibition, such as Man Ray, Martin Munkácsi, Fritz Henle, Adward Weston, Brassai, Tina Modotti, Pierre Verger, Lola y Manuel Alvarez, among
others.

From November 4, 2011 to January 29, 2012, Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm, Friday until 10pm in the Preto Pavilion of Museu da Cidade,
Campo Grande, 245 (Metro station: Campo Grande).
