The Ancient Art Museum, housed in a 17th century palace, hosts a collection of paintings from the Middle Ages to the 19th century – the largest one in Portugal! It is especially rich in early religious works of Portuguese artists, and displays sculptures, silverware, porcelain and applied arts. Among them, you can find great examples of African and Oriental Art. After visiting the exhibitions do not forget to check the museum’s cafeteria, which has a little garden with an amazing view to the river.
