Once the city’s main market of fresh products, Ribeira Market was almost abandoned when Time Out magazine decided to cut it in half, refurbish and transform it in what it is today – a bustling food court, with more than 30 different restaurants, some of them from the most known Portuguese chefs. Mixing traditional and modern, Time Out’s food court as a seating capacity of 500 people inside, and an additional 250 on the terrace, making it an obligatory passage point in the city of Lisbon.
The second half of the building still works as a market during the mornings, where it is possible to buy fresh vegetables, fruits and fish. On weekends there is also handcraft, second hand products and collectibles.
